Frankie – Blue and Gold Macaw

Frankie is a very shy 25 year old Blue and Gold Macaw.  She is going to be looking for a very special home to call her own.  This home must be experienced, have no small children under 12 and needs to be a single dwelling home – no duplexes/apartments/basements for this girl please.

She is not feeling totally comfortable yet with her surroundings and only comes out of her cage when shes feeling adventurous.   She has only stepped up twice and is still quite fearful.  Loud sounds/bangs scare her and shes very nervous of the outside birds she sees through the window and can become very loud and vocal.

She will also need to be closely monitored for egg binding/egg laying – she has had surgery in the past 18 – 24 months to remove an egg.  Subsequent eggs laid were malformed and soft so she may require more than your average vet visits to monitor this.  A potential adopter needs to be aware of the responsibility and potential cost involved.

She has learned how to enjoy all fruits and vegetables and has been slowly weaned off of a high seed diet (about 1 tbsp per day now).  She also likes zupreem peanut flavored pellets although Harrisons is also offered regularly.

She is starting to chew wood blocks and has a few favorite toys she enjoys beating up.  New toys/objects MUST be introduced slowly as she is nervous of almost everything new that comes near her.  She will have serious panic attacks in her cage and throw herself to the bottom in fear.

It would be preferred that she is an only bird due to the time/attention she will require.  A suitable home, time, patience and a whole lot of love would make this girl pretty happy.

Multiple visits will be required before she is placed into a new home. If you require further information not listed here, please email [email protected]

Applications can be filled out via our website if you are interested in adding this girl to your family.
