UPDATE NOVEMBER 2021

In the past few weeks – Ricky has had a stroke which has affected his overall health.  He is currently on medications but his long term prognosis is very poor.  Unfortunately he is no longer available for adoption and will spend his remaining days under the care of Birdline.  If you wish to donate to his care or with toys or just a card of loving thoughts – please visit our donate page or email info@birdline.ca

Ricky is estimated to be between 20 – 30 years old.  He came in with over 35 other parrots from a hoarding situation and spent the last 5 years or so living in a shed.

Two years ago, Ricky got sick very fast and spent many days in ICU at the Avian Vet clinic. Despite numerous testing’s, it was not determined what made him so sick. He dropped alot of weight, his glottis was incredibly swollen in his throat and he was on medication and cage rest for many weeks.  It took some time for him to regain his strength but since that time he seems to have made a full recovery.  This is something that will need to be monitored ie: regular weight checks, monitoring of all food intake etc. He also needs regular nail trims at the Avian Vet.

    I wish I was a few provinces closer. I’d adore having a beak that prefers the ladies. I’m completely shunned by the daddy loving Birdo – of twenty years of my devotion. He sounds such a joyful fellow and I’ve always been captive to those MaCaw feathers.
